October 19, 2021 – A Public Hearing regarding the zoning map amendment which will locate the new City-Centre zoning district on the City’s zoning map on approximately 143 acres of property located at 320 West Kimberly Road (NorthPark Mall) will take place at tomorrow evening’s Committee of the Whole Meeting. Council will also review the first consideration of the Ordinance on this rezoning, which is intended to position Davenport for revitalization focused on a regional mix of commercial, high-density residential, and entertainment uses that encourages compatible development and redevelopment while promoting local reinvestment.

Council will consider awarding the contract for engineering services for the Duck Creek Interceptor Extension project to McClure Engineering Company of North Liberty, Iowa. This project was approved in the City’s American Rescue Act Plan Budget on July 28, 2021, and will extend the current Duck Creek interceptor sewer line from its current terminus to the existing wastewater treatment lagoon located at the northwest corner of Locust Street and Interstate 280. This will allow for future growth at the West Locust business park and for future expansion along the Locust Street corridor.

In November 2020, the City of Davenport and Davenport Police Department were awarded a Strategies for Policing Innovation (SPI) grant to enhance and expand the crime analysis capacity of the Davenport Police Department. With Council approval, IDEA Analytics of Phoenix, Arizona will provide the Police Department with technical assistance as it implements the new Crime Analysis Unit. IDEA will assist with standardizing processes for collecting, processing, analyzing, and reporting timely and actionable data from crime reduction strategies; enhancing DPD's use of data to manage persistent crime trends; and developing the use of data to support investigative and patrol operations to positively impact crimes and/or implement a crime reduction strategy.
