The Federal Railroad Administration has announced $7.8 million in grant funding awarded to the City of Davenport through the Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program for the design and construction of an overpass and elevated roadway on South Concord Street near West River Drive. The program provides funding for highway-rail or pathway-rail grade crossing improvement projects that focus on improving the safety and mobility of people and goods.

City staff is taking steps to address numerous issues including congestion, access points, and pedestrian safety at the intersection of Brady Street and 65th Street/Veterans Memorial Parkway, including applying for an Iowa DOT “Traffic Safety Improvement Program” grant for a traffic safety study. With Council approval, the grant would fund 100% of the cost of the traffic study, which is expected to be $80,000.
