Mike CarlstenThe Davenport Fire Department is rich in tradition. Officially recognized in 1882, the department has grown strategically to its current level of 133 employees. The department currently staffs eight engine companies and three truck companies. Those companies respond to over 19,000 emergency incidents per year including structure fires, emergency medical calls, hazardous materials calls, technical rescues, and citizen's assists.

The department is quite proud of its prevention programs. These programs consist of public education at all levels from the very young to the elderly of our community. Additionally, all the fire houses complete commercial inspections each year. The current Insurance Service Office (ISO) rating for the City of Davenport is a Class 2. This low rating is reflected in the liability insurance assessments for our commercial and residential property owners.

The Davenport Fire Department is an Accredited Agency with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI). The Department is one of only 258 agencies to achieve Internationally Accredited Agency status with the CFAI and the Center for Public Safety Excellence, Inc. (CPSE). Accreditation demonstrates the commitment of our agency to provide the highest quality of service to our community and serves as a planning mechanism for the future.
