What to know - February 3 Council Cycle

February 3, 2021 - Neighborhood streets and major roadways remain a top priority not only for City Council, but also for citizens. 2020 saw a major investment of $3 million dedicated to repairing and rehabilitating 41 neighborhood streets. That investment in Davenport’s infrastructure will continue into 2021 as Council considers approving the plans and specifications for a number of neighborhood street projects.

The Parks and Recreation Department has drafted an amendment to Chapter 12.72 entitled “Conduct in Parks” that would prohibit the use of tobacco and nicotine products in parks and park facilities. At the October 6, 2020 Parks Advisory Board meeting, board members motioned in support of this Ordinance amendment after staff from the Scott County Health Department presented.

With the recent reaffirmation of the City’s AA credit rating by S&P Global, Council will consider the adoption of an Ordinance providing for the sale and issuance of not-to-exceed $10,500,000 General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series 2021A. These will be used to refund the outstanding balance of the City’s General Obligation Corporate and Refunding Bonds, Series 2013A.  Based on the current market, issuance of refunding bonds could provide a total savings of $931,821 and present value savings of $675,771.
