High Wind Storm Event 08.11.21

08.12.2021 | 4:00 p.m.
Cleanup efforts are still underway from yesterday’s storm. Crews will continue to pick up limbs and debris on your regular pickup day, at your normal collection point. Please ensure limbs are cut to 5 feet or less and bundled to weigh no more than 50 pounds.

Please call Davenport Public Works at (563) 326-7923 with any questions regarding storm debris clean-up.

Good news, not a Derecho. Signs of impact by today’s earlier storm remain in pockets across Davenport. Be aware we are at a slight risk for another round of high winds, possible hail, and storms to come through before 10 p.m. So here’s what you need to know now:

  • Crews should have all trees removed from roadways by early evening.
  • Be on the lookout and be wary of hangers (branches hanging on by a thread) from private and public trees. Be sure to check in with a contractor to remove them on private property to avoid damage caused by failure.
  • Curbside collection of storm tree debris will be from your regular collection point on your regular collection day. Please attempt to reduce limbs and material to less than 5 FT and bundle when possible. Property owners who are still dealing with tree debris after Wednesday, August 18th, are encouraged to call public works to coordinate other options.
  • Remember to treat dark intersections as a 4-way stop.

MidAmerican Energy is actively working to restore power to an increasingly smaller number of property owners without power due to the storm.

08.11.21 | 10 a.m.

High winds this morning have created havoc across the City. Please be patient. Public Works crews are actively responding to trees down in the road. MidAmerican is equally responding to downed power lines.

Please be reminded crews cannot remove trees off of power lines until MidAmerican Energy de-energizes them. Public Works and MidAmerican Energy are coordinating.

Treat dark intersections like a 4-Way Stop.

Call ahead if you are planning visits to golf courses, the River’s Edge, or other locations in the City to ensure facilities are available due to power outages.

For those with private fallen tree debris or who have pulled a limb out of the road, please do the following. At this time, the plan will be to collect this material from the curb on your next regular collection day. This may change pending the volume of tree debris accumulated after this storm ends. Stay tuned.

  • Cut to lengths less than 5 FT when possible.
  • Bundle when possible.
  • Place at your normal collection point.
