Better Roads Davenport

Find the full list of construction planned for 2026 at this link.

Change is happening. Bear with us!
Street and sewer improvements can lead to inevitable slowdowns and traffic reroutes. We ask that you keep your eye on the prize: a city with enhanced livability that can support existing business infrastructure as well as attract new companies. It’s a short-term hassle with long-term payoffs.

As always, safety is our number one priority. Staying calm and following construction zone signage will help us achieve that.

As we work to modernize the sewer and street infrastructure to support growth and a vibrant future for our community, remember: there are better roads ahead, Davenport!

Park Access Impacted by Construction

  • 05.01.26 | The Iowa DOT remobilized on Harrison Street at Duck Creek a few weeks ago to reinstall the portion of the recreational trail affected by last year’s bridge reconstruction. The DOT expects this section of the trail to be open by May 8. Once the trail has reopened, they will need to close the pedestrian path on the east side of the bridge to complete repairs to the pedestrian railing damaged in an accident in February 2026. All work on and adjacent to the trail is expected to be completed by late May or early June.
  • 05.01.26 | Goose Creek Connector Trail update. The closure of 39th St between Eastern Ave and Mississippi Ave is expected to continue through June. Four sections of the trail remain under construction in the area. Two of the sections will be completed mid-May, the final two sections will be wrap-up by early July. On-going utility conflicts have resulted in delays.

  • 05.01.26 | The Duck Creek Recreational Trail crossing over Eastern Avenue will shift beginning Wednesday, May 6, for full reconstruction of the bridge. The crossing will use the entrance to Eastern Ave Park. When work is complete, the new bridge will shift the trail crossing under the bridge. Find details at this link.

  • 04.04.25 | Use this link for information on the closures of the Riverfront Walk and Riverfront Recreational Trail near the Main Street Landing Project.
