This Just In

• The 3^rd Street Resurfacing project is progressing quickly. Over the next two weeks, expect shifting travel lanes while work at the intersection of Gaines and 3^rd Streets buttons up, and utility boxouts, ADA ramps and sidewalks, and finish work is completed. Once resurfacing is completed in early to mid-November, work to convert 3^rd Street between Marquette and River Drive from one-way to two-way travel will begin.  Questions about the conversion? • Beginning October 29 through November 7, eastbound E 29th Street will be closed between Annie Wittenmyer Lane and Eastern Avenue for hydrant replacement by Iowa American Water Company. 

• Miller Ave is closed between Railroad and Concord Streets through December 1 for berm construction. Use S Concord or Rockingham Rd to Wapello to access the Davenport Compost Facility. 

• Iowa American has various water main, hydrant work, and temporary winter patch replacements happening across the city including Eastern and 29th, E 10th and Sylvan, and 31st and Belle, 

•  Reconstruction on Ridgeview Drive is complete!

• 09.05.25 | Exciting news for all Duck Creek Recreational Trail enthusiasts! The trail is back open between Hickory Grove Road and Fairmount Street! While construction on the Duck Creek Sewer Interceptor project will continue west of Fairmount next to the trail and along Duck Creek, we’re happy to share that no additional trail closures are expected during this final phase. The project is set to wrap up in the spring/summer of 2026.

• 08.22.25 | Watch for changing traffic control on the Harrison St. bridge over Duck Creek the week of August 25. Two lanes of travel should be maintained. The Duck Creek Recreational Trail will remain detoured until rehabilitation is complete. The Iowa Department of Transportation estimates work will be complete in December. 

• 06.27.25 | Work on the West Loop Trail is moving around the bend from Emeis to Locust. Watch for intermittent construction equipment entering and leaving Locust, as well as lane reductions, as the contractor constructs the new multi-use trail along Locust.

• 03.17.25 | Watch for updates this fall when the remaining phase of the Goose Creek Connector Trail and Veterans Memorial Parkway Connector Trail are complete.

Contractors, or their designee, must submit an application to close a road or reduce travel lanes in the right-of-way at least three business days in advance of the closure unless emergency conditions exist.  Work cannot commence until the application is approved.
