(April 2, 2026) Road reconstruction on Rockingham Road between Farragut Street and Elmwood Avenue will begin on April 6. This project is one of two reconstruction efforts scheduled along Rockingham Road this year in support of a permanent flood detour for river levels that affect W. River Drive.
The project will consist of:
- Full road reconstruction.
- Drainage improvements.
- ADA sidewalk ramp improvements.
- Align utilities.
The reconstruction will require closure of Rockingham Road between Farragut Street and Elmwood Avenue. Please follow the posted detour or use an alternate route.
Work is expected to be completed by early to mid-July, pending weather and subsurface conditions.
Travel note: The closure of Rockingham Road between Clark Street and Farragut Street is estimated to reopen on April 8. That closure was in place for emergency water main repairs.
