April 8, 2021 - The Burn Ban has been rescinded as of 04/08/2021 at 8:00 a.m.
 
Please be aware of the City's burn policy.
 
Burning leaves, grass, building material, and garbage is prohibited. The number for Burn/No Burn is 563.326.7904.


 March 29, 2021 - The Scott County Emergency Management Agency, in conjunction with the local Fire Chiefs and the State Fire Marshalls Office, has determined that open burning constitutes a danger to life & property for Scott County, Iowa. In pursuant to Iowa Code 100.40(1) (1995), a Burn Ban is in effect as of 03/29/2021 at 08:00 am for all of Scott County, Iowa. | Original Release |

Current conditions & concerns:
Weather conditions have initiated a Red Flag Warning by the National Weather Service
The National Weather Service has predictions for high winds for today, 03/29/2021, through 03/30/2021. At this time, a burn ban will be in effect until further notice, and once the danger to life & property has been changed, the Countywide Burn Ban will be lifted. When that time comes, notification that the burn ban has been lifted will be distributed by press release.

PROCLAMATION
OPEN BURNING PROHIBITED

ON MARCH 29, 2021, THE OFFICE OF THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL RECEIVED A REQUEST PURSUANT TO IOWA CODE 100.40(1) (1995) FROM BRIAN PAYNE, REPRESENTING EACH FIRE DEPARTMENT HAVING ALL OR PART OF THEIR FIRE DISTRICT WITHIN SCOTT COUNTY, THAT THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL PROHIBIT OPEN BURNING IN SCOTT COUNTY. UPON INVESTIGATION THE FIRE MARSHAL FINDS THAT CONDITIONS IN SCOTT COUNTY ARE SUCH THAT OPEN BURNING CONSTITUTES A DANGER TO LIFE OR PROPERTY.

IT IS THEREFORE ORDERED THAT NO PERSON SHALL ENGAGE IN OPEN BURNING IN SCOTT COUNTY, EFFECTIVE MARCH 29, 2021 AT 8:00 AM EXCEPT AS SPECIFICALLY PERMITTED BY IOWA CODE 100.40(3) UNTIL SUCH TIME AS BRIAN PAYNE, REPRESENTING EACH FIRE DEPARTMENT HAVING ALL OR PART OF THEIR FIRE DISTRICT WITHIN SCOTT COUNTY, NOTIFIES THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL THAT SUCH CONDITIONS DANGEROUS TO LIFE OR PROPERTY NO LONGER EXISTS.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT PURSUANT TO IOWA CODE 100.40(2) ANY VIOLATION OF THIS PROCLAMATION ORDER IS A SIMPLE MISDEMEANOR.
