Replacement of the Eastern Avenue Bridge over Duck Creek Begins May 6. Due to the bridge’s condition and the addition of a safer trail crossing in the new design, the project received $2 Million in federal grant funds. Construction is expected to wrap up in November.

Here’s what’s happening:

  • Removal of the existing bridge
  • Construction of a new bridge elevated 2–3 feet higher than the current structure
  • A new trail connection under the bridge, shifting the Duck Creek Recreational Trail from crossing Eastern Ave to safely passing underneath

Traffic Impacts: Eastern Avenue will be closed between 29th and 31st Streets for the duration of the project. Please follow the marked detour or choose an alternate route.

  • Northbound: E 29th St to Brady St
  • Southbound: Kimberly Rd to Harrison St
  • Trail users will also see a slight change to the current crossing, using the entrance to Eastern Ave Park.
