Although Davenport missed the worst of the weather yesterday, we were prepared to be resilient. Thank you to all of our staff who were prepared and ready to assist, and to all of our community members who stayed tuned and prepared to weather the storm.

Two rounds of severe storms are expected this afternoon in Davenport between 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. According to the National Weather Service, Davenport is now at high risk for fast moving storms capable of producing damaging straight line- winds, tornadoes, and large hail.

The City of Davenport is working with our partners to actively monitor the storm and is prepared to respond as needed for the safety of our community.

Residents should be aware of the following:

  •  Report down trees on roadways online at www.davenportiowa.com/pwrs
  •  Stay away from downed power lines and report power outages and downed lines to MidAmerican Energy at 888-427-5632 or online at https://www.midamericanenergy.com/ecss/Outage.
  • Be aware power outages could result in dark signals and intersections after the storm. Treat dark signals as a 4-way stop.

The National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather Friday afternoon into Friday evening, with fast-moving storms capable of producing damaging straight-line winds, tornadoes, and large hail.

  • Consider securing outdoor furniture and solid waste carts.

  • Downed trees are possible. Report downed trees in the traveled right of way to Public Works at www.davenportiowa.com/pwrs or 563.326.7923.

  • Stay away from downed power lines and report power outages and downed lines to MidAmerican Energy at 888-427-5632 or online at https://www.midamericanenergy.com/ecss/Outage.

  • Be aware power outages could result in dark signals and intersections. Treat dark signals as a 4-way stop.

Stay tuned when severe weather arrives, and be sure to find a safe place should tornadoes be spotted.
