Rockingham Rd is open, as of this morning, Saturday, November 18th.
Work on the railroad tracks west of Division has been completed.
Two-way travel will be maintained while finish work on the larger street and storm sewer reconstruction project continues, pending discovery of adverse construction conditions.
CitiBus Route 1, Orange Line, will return to its regular route on Sunday, November 19th.

Rockingham Temporarily Re-opened through Tuesday, November 14th.
Full completion of work on the railroad tracks west of Division has been delayed, and the road temporarily re-opened.
Rockingham will be re-closed between Division and Howell Streets on Wednesday, November 15th for completion of work on the tracks. At this time the railroad estimates this stretch will re-open on Friday, November 17th.
The current CitiBus Route 1, Orange Line, detour will remain in place until the work on the tracks is complete. An update on progress and anticipated return to normal route will be issued on Thursday, November 16th or Friday, November 17th pending completion of work on the railroad tracks. Work on Rockingham Rd.
1) Rockingham Rd will be re-opened to all traffic between Birchwood and Pine beginning late Monday, November 6th, or early Tuesday, November 7th. Find details below.
2) Beginning Wednesday, November 8th, Rockingham will be closed to all through traffic between Division and Howell. This section is estimated to be open on, or by, Saturday, November 11th. Find details below
-- Work on Rockingham Rd storm sewer and street reconstruction is progressing quickly. With the re-opening early next week, the majority of storm sewer and reconstruction will be complete.
Remaining storm sewer, street reconstruction activities and finish work, such as, sidewalks, driveway approaches, raising manholes and valve boxes will be completed throughout the month of November, and may carry over into the spring. Two-way travel will continue during this time, pending discovery of adverse construction conditions.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution while crews and equipment are present.
-- The road closure between Division and Howell Streets is necessary for replacement of railroad tracks in this section of road. CP Rail estimates all work will be complete on, or by, Saturday, November 11th.
The current CitiBus Route 1 detour will remain in place through Tuesday, November 7th. A new detour will be issued effective Wednesday, November 8th through Saturday, November 11th. Beginning Monday, October 16th, Rockingham Rd will be closed to all traffic between Elmwood and Lincoln for full street reconstruction along with on-going storm sewer installation. The contractor estimates the work on this stage of the project will be complete early November.
Additional stages, including resurfacing areas and finish work, will be scheduled upon completion of the above work.
Motorists are advised to follow the signed detour. Alternate access to businesses located along the corridor will be available and directional signage placed.

Beginning Thursday, October 5th, Rockingham Rd will be closed to all westbound traffic between Pine St and Birchwood Ave for continued storm sewer work, patching and milling. Once this work is complete, work will flip to the south, opening up westbound travel and closing eastbound travel.
After milling, storm sewer, and patching is complete, this stretch of Rockingham will be closed to all traffic for approximately three weeks for total street reconstruction between Elmwood and Lincoln. Staff estimates this phase of the project will begin mid-October, pending weather and subsurface conditions.
Motorists are advised to follow signed detour and watch for changing traffic control in the coming weeks. Alternate access to businesses located along the corridor will be available and directional signage placed.

Crews were able to return to Rockingham Rd to continue storm sewer pipe installation between Lincoln and Elmwood a little over a week ago, after underground gas main work was completed.
Beginning, Monday, October 2nd, the contractor will begin working on multiple components of the reconstruction and resurfacing project:
• Milling will be conducted between Schmidt and Lincoln and between Elmwood and Birchwood.
• Storm sewer pipe installation will continue heading west from Lincoln to approximately Elmwood, along with related curb and gutter installation.
Two-way travel will continue during this time, however motorists are advised to drive with caution while crews and equipment are present.
Subsurface conditions will be evaluated as milling occurs next week. Evaluation of subsurface conditions, as well as, progress on storm sewer pipe will allow staff and the contractor to develop a better schedule for coming work, including when travel lanes or full closure might be necessary. Look for more information on upcoming construction activities and their traffic impacts in the coming week.

Completion of the Rockingham Rd reconstruction and resurfacing project is significantly delayed due to necessary underground gas main work.
All work on the gas main in the area where storm sewer reconstruction needs to continue is expected to be complete by Sunday, September 24th.
Crews will return on Monday, September 25th to continue moving forward with storm sewer pipe installation and related curb and gutter.
Watch for changing traffic controls in the coming weeks as storm sewer reconstruction moves west to Birchwood.
After storm sewer work restarts a new schedule for estimated project completion will be released.
08/25/17
Beginning Monday August 28th, Rockingham Rd Reconstruction and Resurfacing project will begin moving west from Schmidt Rd for continuing storm sewer pipe installation. Storm sewer pipe installation will be followed by sub-base preparation and concrete patching as work moves west to Birchwood.
Motorists are advised a closure of Schmidt Rd between River Dr and Rockingham Rd will also occur beginning Monday. The closure is necessary for work on the railroad tracks by CP Rail. Work is estimated to be complete by Friday, September 1st. Traffic delays are possible due to the closure.
08/11/17
Progress on the Rockingham Rd Reconstruction and Resurfacing project has continued to see delays as the result of underground gas line boring and underground utility system updates.
The contractor will be returning next week to construct the sub-base and apply an initial patch to the section of Rockingham between Schmidt Rd and Hancock where storm sewer work is complete. Additional re-surfacing work will be completed along the entire project stretch following completion of storm sewer improvements.
Work along the stretch will advance in a westerly direction from Schmidt Rd to Birchwood as underground utility work progresses.
07/14/17
Work on the Rockingham Rd Reconstruction and Resurfacing project has been delayed for completion of gas and electrical line work by the utility.
Portions of storm sewer construction are complete.
Staff anticipates storm sewer construction work will resume around Monday, July 24th, depending on status of utility work. Once construction resumes, work will move westerly from Schmidt Rd to Birchwood. At this time, staff anticipates all storm sewer work in the north westbound curb lane will be complete in August. Once complete, next project phases will begin.
The city will update further as work progresses and traffic control patterns change.

Reconstruction and resurfacing of Rockingham Rd between Birchwood Av and Schmidt Rd will begin Tuesday, May 30th. Work will include storm sewer, curb and sidewalk improvements.
The first phase of construction consists of storm sewer construction, and will begin at the intersection of Rockingham and Schmidt Roads and move westerly to Birchwood. During this phase of construction, the north curb lane of Rockingham Rd will be closed. Two-way traffic will be routed in available lanes south of the construction area.
Motorists are advised to pay attention to signs as work progresses. Traffic delays are possible.
Additional phases will follow completion of storm sewer construction in the north curb lane. Road construction is anticipated to be complete by late Fall 2017, depending on weather and subsurface conditions.
