Based on the forecast, a Snow Emergency will be in effect from 3 p.m. today through Noon on Friday, December 12. Crews are prepared to respond when snow arrives.
Here’s what you need to know as we head into the day:
- Crews brined major roads yesterday and today to help with early melting.
- Expect slick road conditions for the evening commute. Give yourself a little extra time and increase your following distance.
- Parking restrictions apply during a Snow Emergency. Vehicles parked Posted Snow Routes during the Snow Emergency may be ticketed and towed. As an alternative to on-street parking in the Downtown, residents and visitors to the area may park for free in any of the city’s three parking ramps during the snow emergency.
- Crews will focus on clearing Posted Snow Routes until the snow stops and pavement is clear, then will shift focus to residential roads.

(December 8, 2025 - 7:00 AM) Crews have finished clearing residential roads and will be out spot checking and clearing throughout the city today.
(December 7, 1:00 PM) Crews have transitioned to residential roads. Please be patient and keep vehicles off-street where possible. Parking off-street prevents you from being plowed in and helps the team clear roads more quickly and safely, especially on narrower streets. Crews anticipate all residential roads will be cleared by sometime Monday morning.
(December 7, 6:00 AM) We experienced a mix of heavy snow, rain/drizzle, and light snow overnight. Snow ended a short time ago.
A Snow Emergency remains in effect through Noon today. Please keep vehicles off all Posted Snow Routes to avoid ticketing and towing and to help crews clear major corridors quickly and safely.
Crews will continue working on Posted Snow Routes until they’re cleared curb-to-curb before moving into residential neighborhoods.

(December 6, 2025 - 5:30 PM) A Snow Emergency will be in effect from 9 PM tonight until Noon, Sunday, December 7.
Please keep vehicles off of Posted Snow Routes to avoid a ticket and tow, and assist crews in clearing these major travel corridors quickly and safely. Residents and visitors to the Downtown may park for free in any of the city’s three parking ramps while the Snow Emergency is in effect.
Once the snow starts to fly, crews will focus on Posted Snow Routes until the snow ends and routes are clear before entering residential areas.
Stay safe if you are out and about overnight and early Sunday.
(December 6, 2025 - 12:30 PM) More snow is on the way! The National Weather Service is forecasting 5+ inches of snowfall beginning late this evening and continuing into early Sunday morning. Based on the current forecast, a Snow Emergency will be in effect from 9 p.m. tonight through 12 p.m. (Noon) on Sunday, December 7. Reminder: Vehicles parked on Posted Snow Routes during the Snow Emergency may be ticketed and towed. The snow team is prepared and ready to respond as soon as the snow arrives. (December 2, 2025 – 5:00 PM) Crews have completed response on all Posted Snow Routes and residential roads. Crews should complete snow removal in the Downtown and Hilltop Campus Village areas overnight tonight.

(December 2, 2025 – 9:00 AM) A 2nd Snow Emergency specific to the Downtown and Hilltop Campus Village will go into effect at 10 PM this evening through 6 AM, Wednesday, December 3. The Snow Emergency and parking prohibition is for snow pick up and hauling. As an alternative to on-street parking in the Downtown, residents and visitors may park for free in the city’s parking ramps from 5 PM this evening through 8 AM, Wednesday, December 3. (December 2, 2025 – 6:00 AM) Heavy fog — and even freezing fog — is possible this morning. Crews will be out spot-checking and clearing roads across the city throughout the day. Please drive with caution.

(December 1, 9:00 AM) A Snow Emergency has been declared from Noon today through 8 AM on Tuesday, December 2, due to the ongoing snow removal operations and a forecast of 3 more inches of snow beginning around Noon today and lasting through the evening.

To keep vehicles off these roads in the Downtown, residents and visitors to the area may park for free in any of the city’s three parking ramps from Noon today through 8 AM, Tuesday, December 2.
The Snow Team will continue clearing residential roads this morning until the next round of snow begins. All residential streets should receive a pass before new snow arrives. Our Snow Team will continue clearing residential streets this morning until the next round of snowfall begins. Once snow returns around Noon, crews will shift back to Posted Snow Routes.

(November 30, 2025 – 5:00 PM) The Snow Team expects all residential roads to be cleared by Monday morning, just before another round of snow is expected to arrive. Please keep vehicles off residential roads to help crews clear these roads safely and efficiently – and prevent you from being plowed in.
Another 2–4 inches of snow is likely starting mid-day Monday through the evening, according to the National Weather Service. If you haven’t cleared your sidewalks yet, now is a great time to do so before the next snowfall.
Travel will continue to be challenging through Monday. Give yourself some extra time and drive according to road conditions.

Continue to keep vehicles off Posted Snow Routes through 9 a.m., Sunday, November 30. On all other roads, plan to park off-street on Sunday to help crews clear roads more safely and efficiently - and to avoid being plowed in.
Road conditions will remain difficult through Sunday. Give yourself extra time and use caution if you must travel. Blowing and drifting overnight could result in recovering of roads, especially in open areas.
This has been a heavy, wet snow. Be sure to take breaks and hydrate while clearing sidewalks.

(November 29, 2025 - 6:00 AM) A Snow Emergency remains in effect through 9 a.m., Sunday, November 30. The heaviest snowfall rates are expected before 9 a.m. and again after 2 p.m. today, with snow tapering off later this evening. Total snowfall is forecast between 12 and 14 inches.
Here’s what you need to know as we head into the day:
- Travel will be difficult throughout the day into Sunday.
- Keep vehicles off of Posted Snow Routes to avoid a ticket and tow.
- Shovel early and often to make snow removal easier and reduce the need for salt.
- Check on neighbors and older individuals; consider lending a hand to those unable to clear sidewalks.

Our first accumulating snowfall is on the way, with 10–13 inches expected from this evening through Sunday, November 30, according to our partners at the National Weather Service. Due to high snowfall amounts, the city is declaring a Snow Emergency from 8 p.m. Friday, November 28, through 9 a.m. Sunday, November 30.

(October 13, 2025 - 6:00 AM) Winter is just around the corner, and Davenport is preparing for the season to arrive. Plow blades and spreaders are being installed, training is underway, and our salt supply has been replenished.
As part of winter preparation, the city encourages all residents and visitors to be prepared. This includes signing up for Snow Emergency Alerts. Signing up for alerts is the most reliable way to know when a Snow Emergency has been declared and when parking on posted snow routes is prohibited.
Snow emergencies are declared when the area is expected to receive ice and/or hazardous volumes of snow. Parking is prohibited on Posted Snow Routes when a snow emergency is in effect. This helps Public Works crews ensure that the highest traffic volume roads and hills receive priority service, which helps everyone get around when the snow starts to fly.
