(May 14, 2026) The Davenport City Council unanimously approved its 2026–2027 Strategic Priorities, establishing a vision to guide decision-making, capital investments, and community initiatives over the next two years and beyond.
The strategic priorities were developed following a two-day City Council workshop in February, facilitated by Strategic Government Resources. The process included collaboration between the Mayor, City Council members, and City leaders. The strategic priorities identified by the Council align with the City’s operational pillars and reflect a shared commitment to addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing both the organization and the community.
- Affordable Housing
- Economic Development
- Create Community
- Improve Infrastructure
- Public Safety
Among the initiatives identified in the plan are increasing investment in neighborhood streets, supporting affordable housing programs, advancing public safety technology, targeting key development corridors, and strengthening communication with residents about City projects and services. The City Council thanked City Administrator Tim Gleason for his leadership in the workshops.
“This document is a great example of what can happen when you have a solid process and a group determined to work through it together,” said Mayor Jason Gordon. “I’m proud of the Council for their time and commitment, and for the courage to have these tough, but productive conversations.”
The strategic priorities will help guide departmental work plans, budget discussions, and long-term planning efforts across the organization. City staff will share quarterly updates on initiatives identified in the plan with the City Council.
