The intersection has fully re-opened fully intersection reconstruction and improvements.

Work on the intersection of Eastern Ave and Locust St is flipping to the north side of the intersection beginning Wednesday, July 19. Traffic control will change with the flip. There will be no access to Locust from Eastern on the north or south. All travel on Locust will be head-to-head in the south lanes. Follow the signed detour or consider an alternate route to avoid travel delays. Reconstruction, signal, sidewalk and watermain upgrades are expected to be complete by the end of August 2023.

Watch for lane reductions at the intersection of Eastern Ave and Locust St beginning June 5 for intersection improvements. Initially, travel will be head-to-head on the north side of Locust through the intersection. There will be no north or southbound travel on Eastern south of the intersection.

The improvement project will reconstruct the entire intersection and include ADA signal and sidewalk updates, as well as water main upgrades by Iowa American Water Company.

Once work in the southern portion of the intersection is complete, work will flip to the north lanes and restrict movement through the intersection on the northern side of Eastern.

All work is estimated to be complete by late August.

Consider an alternative route to avoid travel delays.
