The city provides several economical and convenient options to dispose of solid waste that does not fit in your garbage cart. Residents may be moving or just de-cluttering, whatever the reason there are options for proper disposal.

Extra Garbage Sticker
Just have an extra bag or two? The Extra Garbage Sticker is the right choice for you. The cost of an Extra Garbage Sticker is $4.00. You will need to purchase one sticker for each extra bag you have. Stickers can be purchased at local grocery stores, hardware stores, Davenport City Hall, and the Davenport Public Works Center.

Follow the instructions on the sticker for placement. Bags can be no larger than 33 gallons and no heavier than 50lbs. If you have 1 bag of garbage sit it on top of the cart. If you have additional bags, place them at least 4 feet away from the cart to accommodate the garbage truck's robotic arm. All extra bags must have the sticker facing toward the street or alley.

Special Calls for Service Excess Waste
This service is especially beneficial to those who are moving or otherwise have a lot of waste to dispose. The cost for this service is $40 and allows you to place a maximum of 5 cubic yards, (that's about 80 33-gallon garbage bags or about one large pickup truck load). Special Holiday Collection
During the week following Christmas, the City allows residents to place up to 5 extra garbage bags outside of the cart. Bags can be no larger than 33 gallons and no heavier than 50lbs. If you have 1 bag of garbage sit it on top of the cart. If you have additional bags, place them at least 4 feet away from the cart to accommodate the garbage truck's robotic arm.

If you consistently have more garbage than will fit in your cart, you should consider moving to a larger cart size. Direct Disposal at the Landfill.
