What to Know - June 2 Council Cycle

June 1, 2021 - Streets, streets, and more streets. City Council will discuss more neighborhood street projects this Council cycle, including the plans and specifications for East 7th Street from Iowa Street to LeClaire Street and LeClaire Street from East 6th Street to East 8th Street. Council will also consider awarding the contracts for the Emerald Drive Reconstruction and Hickory Grove Road Resurfacing projects.

Although it isn’t even summer yet, Public Works has secured a blanket contract for the purchase of road salt for the 2021-2022 winter season from Compass Minerals America Inc of Overland Park, Kansas. This is a multi-jurisdiction purchase and will be distributed among the cities of Clinton, Iowa; Buffalo, Iowa; Princeton, Iowa; Muscatine, Iowa; and Walcott, Iowa as well as the Davenport Community School District; Andalusia Township, Illinois; and the Village of Andalusia, Illinois.

With City Council approval, the contract for new traffic signals at Hickory Grove Road and Central Park Avenue will be awarded to Davenport Electric Contract Company of Davenport, Iowa. The project is estimated to be completed by November 2021.
