Sept. 15, 2020 — A new park proposed for north Davenport, downtown library renovations and a new roof for the RiverCenter are the three things to know for the Sept. 16/23 City Council cycle.

Public hearings on the plans, specifications, form of contract and estimated cost of Jersey Farms Neighborhood Park and library renovations are scheduled for tonight’s Committee of the Whole, while the City Council will vote on all three projects at the Sept. 23 meeting.

Amenities for the park, located at the 2900 block of East 65th Street, include a circular walking trail with benches and native plantings, a shelter and playground. The park will connect to a recreational trail on the south side of Veterans Memorial Parkway via a sidewalk.

Renovations to Davenport Public Library’s Main Branch will create individual study rooms, a first floor public meeting room, a more defined children’s area a new teen space, an improved public computer area and a flex space for use as a maker area or other programming. A new service desk in a new location is also part of the project to allow staff to better help patrons.

The City Council will consider a bid of $641,500 to replace the roof of the RiverCenter’s south complex. The lowest bid from Economy Roofing and Insulating of Bettendorf was the lowest bid and came in below the estimate. The project is part of the city’s capital improvement program.
