Be a part of beautifying our community and protecting local water resources. We will be holding events along Duck Creek and the recreational trail throughout 2021.

Register to help us prepare for a prescribed burn

The City of Davenport's Duck Creek Wild Auxiliary Club will be focusing on removal of honeysuckle, clearing logs and burn breaks of debris in preparation for a prescribed burn of the Duck Creek riparian zone adjacent to Junge Park.

Who can Participate? This opportunity is open to anyone interested in beautifying Davenport, restoring pollinator habitat and protecting the health of our local waterways, No previous experience necessary. Individuals under the age of 18 must have adult supervision.

Description of Project: Volunteers will be lopping down honeysuckle and removing logs and debris from the area in preparation for a prescribed burn. Weeding, and debris pickup consists of walking, bending kneeling, pulling, lopping and placing wastes in a bag and carries little hazard. Volunteers will receive appropriate tools and safety instructions before planting.

Other Details: Any current CDC COVID-19 precautions in place will be observed. Masks are highly encouraged when volunteers cannot remain six feet apart. Volunteers should wear clothing appropriate for weather conditions and get dirty.
